Handmade Handbag with Oboro Kamon Pattern Nishijin-ori and Brass Handle

A soft presence, shaped by light
Brand new, made with newly woven Nishijin-ori. Not antique or vintage fabric.

This handbag is created using Nishijin-ori, a prestigious textile from Kyoto with a history of over 1,000 years. It is produced in our Osaka workshop, where bags have been made for over 42 years, with a quiet focus on materials meant to be used and lived with over time.

The defining feature of this piece is the Oboro Kamon (Hazy Floral Crest) pattern. Rather than appearing with sharp contrast, the motif emerges gently, like a haze, shifting its expression as the light changes. This restrained presence brings softness and depth to formal attire.

Instead of drawing attention, the pattern settles into the overall styling. It complements posture and movement, adding a sense of calm refinement suited to formal occasions.

Oboro Kamon Pattern Nishijin-ori

Nishijin-ori is known for its layered textures and subtle visual depth. The Oboro Kamon pattern expresses this quality through gentle transitions rather than bold definition, allowing the fabric to feel light, composed, and quietly elegant.

It harmonizes naturally with both Western dresses and traditional attire, adapting to the atmosphere of the setting.

Brass Handle and Balance

A brass handle adds a subtle sense of warmth and structure. Its muted tone brings balance to the softness of the textile, while its surface gradually develops character through time and use.

Presence and Proportion

The handbag maintains a composed silhouette while offering space for essentials such as a smartphone, small cosmetics, and a compact wallet. Its proportions are well suited to weddings, receptions, and evening gatherings where restraint defines elegance.

Water-Repellent Finish

A light water-repellent finish gently protects the fabric from everyday moisture and light stains, allowing the handbag to be worn with confidence on special occasions.

One of a Kind

Each Nishijin-ori textile has slight variations in pattern placement, giving every handbag its own quiet individuality.
